BackTrack is a distribution based on the Debian GNU/Linux
distribution aimed at digital forensics and penetration testing use.It
is named after backtracking, a search algorithm. The current version is BackTrack 5 R3. Backtrack to be an excellent tool for those who want to learn hacking techniques and network security.History of Backtrack : Once we know what is backtrack. Backtrack 2 was released on 6 March 2007 which include more than 300 security tools while the beta version of backtrack 3 was released on 14 December 2007 that on this third release is more focused on hardware support. While the version of backtrack 3 was released on 19 June 2008 on backtrack 3 versions of this saint and maltego enter nessus while not incorporated and remained on the kernel version 2.6.21.5. in BackTrack 4. On May 8, 2010 BackTrack 4 R1 & BackTrack 4 R2 was released on November 22, 2010. On May 10, 2011 BackTrack 5 (Linux kernel 2.6.38), BackTrack 5 R1 release (Linux kernel 2.6.39.4) on August 18, 2011 & BackTrack 5 R2 (Linux kernel 3.2.6) on March 1, 2012 was released & going so on today it offers the latest linux kernel in BackTrack5 R3 which was released on August 13, 2012.

Also equipped with wireless drivers patched for wireless injection to combat attacks (wireless injection attacks)

Backtrack created by Mati Aharoni which is a security consultant from Israel and max mosser so is a collaboration of community, backtrack is itself a merger of whax which whax was one of the linux distributions that are used to test the security of the origin of whax knoppix. When the knoppix mencapi version 3.0 then called with whax. We could do with whax securtity test of various network anywhere. Max mosser is the auditor security collection that specifies for him to penetrate security in linux, a merger of whax and auditor’s own menghasilakan 300 tool used for testing the security of the network. Auditor security collection is also on knoppix.
