Installing BackTrack Linux using VirtualBox


Hello Readers, Today Tech-Attacks is going show you “ How to install Backtrack on VirtualBox
(I am using here BackTrack 5 r3)

Necessary things:
1. BackTrack
(It must be “.iso” file).
2. Oracle VM Virtual box
.
(Both Download Links listed at the End of Post)

1step: Download Virtual box install as like another software .

2step: After installing VirtualBox , lunch it & press new button there.
When you press new button, You will get a popup box .You must give a name (any name) & select type : Linux, select Version : UBUNTU Because BackTrack is another version of ubuntu and press next.

3step: 2nd popup box for physical memory(RAM). If you want better performance you should define 1gb(1024mb) ram or high but If you only have 1gb ram then you should define (atleast) 720mb ram and press next.

4step:
Now Create a Virtual Hard drive or Simply don't change anything just press create button.

5step:
Select VDI(Virtual Disk Image) or Simply don't change anything just press next button.

6step:
Select Dynamic Allocated or Simply don't change anything just press next button.

7step: File location: It means those Setup files will be saved on your PC on described Path or Directory as default( You don't need to change it) and below scroll is hard drive space - minimum 8gb needed for BackTrack 5 r3 and press create button.

8step: Now you have created a Linux Box. Open your VirtualBox and Select the box which you created & press start button.

9step: This skin like this. Now Select path for your Backtrack.iso file and then press start.

Now Press Enter Button.

Select Default Boot Test Mode & Now again just press ENTER.

Wait.

You can see command screen. When you see root@bt: then you need to give the command "startx" (small letter).

Then you can see the first step of your BackTrack Installation. Press "install BackTrack" (icon on Desktop).

10step: Select language (I prefer English ) & press Forward.

11step: Select Region: (like) Asia & Time Zone :Your Country’s Time Zone

12step: Don't change anything press Forward.

13step: Now Select “Erase & use Entire disk” & Press Forward.
Don’t worry it wont Format(Erase) all your disk to Use(Install) BackTrack Linux
It will just use the Part or your drive space which you already mentioned when setting up the VirtualBox (Step 4 & 5 – Tested & Worked on my Box).

14step: Just press install.

15step: Wait few minute for 100% complete Installation. It will take time when it comes on 99% don’t worry on it, If your computer performance is not well then it will be need more time.

16step: After completing installation, press Restart.

17step: Open VirtualBox & Select your LinuxBox & press “Start” button. Then you will see like command page. Which will need Username & Password to proceed.
In all BackTrack(Till 2013) the Default Username & Password is same :
Username:root
Password:toor

Typing Username can be seen (root) But it will be not showing password (toor) which you will type. Dont worry type Password & hit. Then give command "startx" & finally you can see the Backtrack Desktop.
